Montreal's newest contemporary art gallery will hold a gala grand opening on September 18th & 19th. The event will include "Commencement", an exhibition by gallery artists, a sound performance by Darcin, and an installation/performance by Emma Waltraud Howes who will wrap the entire gallery in brown paper and then unwrap it. The gallery is also hosting a reception on Saturday afternoon.

SCHEDULE

Friday, 11AM to 6PM
Visit Galerie Maison Kasini to view the wrapping of the gallery in action. Using brown package paper, Emma Waltraud Howes will redefine the gallery space through the creation of artificial walls. When she is done, the entire gallery will be obscured and reshaped.

Saturday, 11AM to Noon
The wrapped gallery will be open for viewing.

Saturday, Noon
Emma Waltraud Howes will move about the space and interact with the artificial reality she has created. Through the act of cutting, she will reveal the space underneath and, ultimately, the gallery as it existed before it was wrapped.

Saturday, 2PM
The “Commencement” exhibition and ARTSHOP will be open.

Saturday, 3PM
Nicolas Dion, a.k.a. Darcin, will perform X a sound performance that focuses on the manipulations of one toy instrument by one person and one computer.

Saturday, 4-7PM
Reception. Join artists and friends of Galerie Maison Kasini as we celebrate the official opening of the gallery with cheese, chocolate, fresh fruit, and wine.
